About Our Staff

Please let me introduce you to our small team. These are the guys you will meet throughout your time with us – whether at a home visit, in the office or during the funeral. We are a close-nit team in which every individual has a strong commitment to the families we serve.

Jeremy
Jeremy
Managing Director

I started Penrose Funerals with my son Nathan some years ago with a shared desire to provide a professional and caring service whilst combatting what we felt to be unrealistically high prices. We have been successful in both of these goals.

As Managing Director my primary roll is Senior FD (Funeral Director). The FD takes responsibility for leading each funeral and quietly guiding family and friends through the day from arrival at the house to departure from the funeral reception. Having worked previously as a professional choreographer and film-maker I am also responsible for all design work including the range of Service Sheets you can see on this site. Nathan and I also work hard to ensure that our care for bereaved families starts with our care for our staff and our staff’s care for each other. We feel this work has been highly successful.

Nathan
Nathan
Director

Nathan is our lead funeral arranger so if you come into the office to see us it may well be Nathan who will arrange everything for you. He is also our community liaison and a very good FD alongside myself and Kevin. Our resident rationalist and philosopher we sometimes find him standing in a corner deep in thought, usually it is best to leave him there until he is finished.

Nathan is a mathematician and physicist by training. This explains why Penrose is named in honour of the mathematician and physicist Roger Penrose (and for those who may be interested you will be able to see the famous Penrose Tiling in much of our literature).

Brendon
Brendon
Office Manager

Brendon is our office manager and also a funeral arranger along with Nathan. The reason he is photographed in profile is that he is just too busy to sit still for the camera. Brendon is a master of the small details and excellent at dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s. He will check every detail of your funeral again and again and keeps us all ship-shape (when we can stop him dropping crumbs all round his desk).

Kevin
Kevin
Funeral Director

Kevin is our Mr Fixit, an excellent FD and the only person I know who is as focussed on timekeeping as myself. He may seem a bit of a grump (I couldn’t get him to smile for this photo) but if it is cold at a funeral he will be the first to offer you his coat and to appear with a box of tissues if required. Whatever the situation Kevin will have a solution and, in truth, probably a wicked grin to go with it.

Between Kevin and myself we have a proud record of arriving at our destinations within 60 seconds of the arranged time at least nine times out of ten. Yes, it is an obsession…but a very useful one.

Edward
Edward
Fleet Manager

Edward is our Brad Pitt. He arrived with flowing hair, a charming smile and an attention to detail second to none when caring for and cleaning our fleet of cars. He has now cut his hair and had a bouncing baby boy with an even more charming smile but he still gives the cars a shine like the mirror on the Hubble telescope. I’ve never known anyone who feels the cold as badly as Ed (he starts wearing his thermals in the autumn) but he will move mountains to make sure that every single funeral runs perfectly for the family.

Paul
Paul
FSO (Funeral Service Operative)

Paul is a true gentleman and one of life’s peaceful souls. Having been around for almost ever he will usually know at least 2 or 3 people at every funeral. Paul is always busy with his many sons, but the love of his life is his beautiful dog Alex. With his charming manner and quiet smile he can usually be seen walking around, humming to himself, and checking every last detail for the funeral. He is a rock and a stalwart in our small team and probably the most likeable of us all.

Jon
Jon
Arranger

Our own smiling Siddhartha, Jon is a truly caring and considerate family man with extensive knowledge of the area and years of experience in the funeral business. With a background in training and assessment John has infinite patience; he will calmly and slowly guide you through the process of planning a funeral and assess your every need so that you will get exactly what is required for you and your deceased. I have never managed to find anything that is too much trouble for Jon or been able to try his patience. He is a saint…

Nathan, Brendon and all at Penrose,

Thank you so much for all you help and care with mum’s funeral.

Best wishes,

Gillian, Jez, Chris, Lesley and family - January 2020

WOW…What an amazing team!

Thank you Brendon and Kevin for your sympathy, kindness and compassion when you took Cliff into Penrose’ care.

Thank you Nathan for arranging the funeral, it was perfect in every way.

Thank you Jeremy for completing the Order of Service and for leading the funeral in such a respectful, dignified and professional manner. We cannot express how much this meant to us as a family.

Thank you Edward and Paul for your support, respect and kindness on the day of the funeral. Edward, you offered your coat to our mum as she looked cold and Paul, you were so kind talking about the dogs outside our house before we left, the dogs were a big part of Cliff and are so important to the family, so this gave us comfort knowing that they had been recognised.

We have no hesitation in recommending your services to our family and friends.

All of you made a very sad day more bearable. We sincerely THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts,

Kindest wishes

Carole, Darren and Ruth Wingrove - January 2020

Nathan, Jeremy and the Penrose Team,

My wife, myself and our family would like to say a heartfelt thank you for the wonderful service we received from Penrose. We could not have asked for kinder or more helpful people and certainly everyone who attended David’s funeral gave high praise indeed to the whole event.

I cannot recommend Penrose highly enough on the amazing service provided and wish you all the very best in the future.
