About Our Staff

Please let me introduce you to our small team. These are the guys you will meet throughout your time with us – whether at a home visit, in the office or during the funeral. We are a close-nit team in which every individual has a strong commitment to the families we serve.

Jeremy
Managing Director

I started Penrose Funerals with my son Nathan some years ago with a shared desire to provide a professional and caring service whilst combatting what we felt to be unrealistically high prices. We have been successful in both of these goals.

As Managing Director my primary role is Senior FD (Funeral Director). The FD takes responsibility for leading each funeral and quietly guiding family and friends through the day from arrival at the house to departure from the funeral reception. Having worked previously as a professional choreographer and film-maker I am also responsible for all design work including the range of Service Sheets you can see on this site. Nathan and I also work hard to ensure that our care for bereaved families starts with our care for our staff and our staff’s care for each other. We feel this work has been highly successful.

Nathan
Director

Nathan is our lead funeral arranger so if you come into the office to see us it may well be Nathan who will arrange everything for you. He is also our community liaison and a very accomplished FD. Our resident rationalist and philosopher we sometimes find him standing in a corner deep in thought, usually it is best to leave him there until he is finished.

Nathan is a mathematician and physicist by training. This explains why Penrose is named in honour of the mathematician and physicist Roger Penrose (and for those who may be interested you will be able to see the famous Penrose Tiling in much of our literature).

Brendon
Office Manager

Brendon is our office manager and also a funeral arranger along with Nathan. The reason he is photographed in profile is that he is just too busy to sit still for the camera. Brendon is a master of the small details and excellent at dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s. He will check every detail of your funeral again and again and keeps us all ship-shape (when we can stop him dropping crumbs all round his desk).

Jim & Clive
Jim & Clive
Fleet Managers

Gentleman Jim, on the left, keeps our fleet immaculate and our team on their toes.  Despite being an avid West Ham fan Jim is a truly delightful character who will stop at nothing to make sure everything is ship shape before, during and after every funeral. He also has the best polished shoes I’ve every seen.

Clive, on the right, is a gentleman through and through. When Clive is not with the team he will be found somewhere on a golf course or driving his beloved Jaguar. Whilst Clive’s driving is impeccable, partly due to his training and expertise in tactical armed response, we all appreciate his gentle, thoughtful and almost infinitely helpful attitude at all times. Do not, however, sneak up behind him and shout ‘Boo’….you have been warned.

Jon
Arranger

Our own smiling Siddhartha, Jon is a truly caring and considerate family man with extensive knowledge of the area and years of experience in the funeral business. With a background in training and assessment John has infinite patience; he will calmly and slowly guide you through the process of planning a funeral and assess your every need so that you will get exactly what is required for you and your Loved One. I have never managed to find anything that is too much trouble for Jon or been able to try his patience. He is a saint…

Testimonials

To Nathan, Jeremy and Staff

Thank you for your patience, support and knowledge. Without you I know the day would not have run so smoothly.

And thank you for going the extra mile time and again.

Love and Thanks…xxx

Jane Morris - May 2017

Dear all,

We would like to thank you for all the care and attention you gave towards our relative Eva Wright recently. You were all most respectful at all times and we greatly appreciated your help before, during and after the funeral. We are also very impressed with the quality of the recordings of the service and in these times it will be greatly valued by the family and friends.

Thank you once again

Sally and Andy on behalf of Steven Wright and family - October 2020

Brendon,

Thank you for everything to do with Mirka’s last journey. We could not have done this without you.

Julie, Sam, Shaun and Levi - Sept 2023

Dear all at Penrose,

we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude in how you helped our family sort out and deal with the difficult process of arranging my late mother, Susan Johnson’s, funeral.

Your kindness, compassion and respect for the family, and how you delicately handled the coffin, was noticed by all.

Many thanks,

The Johnson Family - December 2021
Hello. I would like to thank you all for the care, support and compassion you all showed and for the lovely service you gave for my husband Dennis’ funeral on 11th August. He had a grand “send off” with so many to say their goodbyes, and the sun shone too. John Banks gave a lovely service and myself and my family would like to express our thanks for your help on such a sad day in our lives.
Regards,
Barbara and all the Hudswell family - Sept 2021

To Brendon, Jeremy and Nathan,

Thank you all so much for all the kindness and care, for looking after my lovely wife Margaret until the funeral.

Kind regards

Peter Shales - June 2022

Dear Brendon,

Just a note to say how much I appreciate you sending the order of service to New Zealand for Joanna …. I had not realised that she had passed and for you to provide the Order of Service so long after the event was very kind of you.

Thank you again for your kindness and effort,

Anna Slater - December 2021
